About Melissa

Hi, I’m Melissa Gendreau, MS, LMHC, NCC.

I’m an independently licensed mental health counselor in Iowa with over 16 years of experience supporting adolescents (age 13+), adults, and couples. I am also a National Board Certified Counselor (NCC) and a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and informed by a Christian perspective. I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical skills and greater clarity as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships, grief, self-worth, and spiritual formation. While I am a Christian, I welcome clients from all backgrounds and belief systems.

In addition to my clinical experience, I served on a professional ethics board in Wisconsin from 2015 to 2016. I currently offer clinical supervision and consultation to mental health professionals. I’m especially passionate about helping Christian clinicians build and maintain private practices that are both ethically sound and faithfully integrated.
