Meeting You Right Where You Are.

Hi, I’m Melissa Gendreau, MS, LMHC, NCC.

Coming to therapy often means you are tired, hurting, or unsure what to do next. I will meet you there. You do not have to have the right words, and you do not have to pretend you are fine.

I’m an independently licensed mental health counselor in Iowa with over 16 years of experience. My approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and informed by a Christian perspective. I focus on helping clients develop practical tools and clarity as they work toward meaningful change. That includes taking feelings seriously while we also look honestly at thoughts, choices, and relationships.

I work with adolescents (13+), adults, and couples. In couples work, I treat the marriage as the client. That means I am for both of you, and for the relationship you asked me to help.

I also offer clinical supervision and consultation for mental health professionals, including counselors who want to integrate their faith in a way that is ethical and clinically sound.

What I Offer

I provide practical, compassionate support through therapy, clinical supervision, and consultation.

Clinical Therapy

I offer therapy from a Christian perspective, grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), while exploring and understanding family dynamics. My approach focuses on helping clients develop practical tools, gain clarity, and work toward meaningful change in their lives.

Clinical Supervision

I provide clinical supervision for pre-licensed mental health counselors working toward independent licensure. My approach is developmental and collaborative, with an emphasis on clinical competence, ethical practice, and thoughtful integration of faith when desired and appropriate.

Consultation

I offer consultation for licensed mental health professionals who want to integrate their Christian faith into their clinical work in a way that feels both authentic and ethically sound. I help counselors thoughtfully navigate the tension between personal faith and professional ethics while maintaining clinical integrity and strong boundaries.
